Meet the chickens

Sharing is caring!

We would like you to meet our few backyard chickens that are still fairly young. They were born in February 2024 and started laying around June/ July 2024. We built a chicken coop out of a shed we didn't use and they have a long run to play in. We also move them around in a mobile run or chicken tractor that we built as well. They also love roaming around the yard, getting into the gardens and seeing what is new around the house,

Basket of different color eggs

Since these girls started laying eggs, we have a beautiful basket full of different colors and sizes. We like being able to save eggs during times eggs are hard to find but are more than happy sharing with friends and family. Our eggs are never washed until we use them. By keeping the bloom on, they last a lot longer. A nice thing that I have figured out how to preserve eggs by freezing and dehydrating.

Meet the chickens. They are curious and friendly. My children love following them around, giving them treats and collecting eggs.

I also use the egg shells in the garden and feed crushed egg shells to the chickens for extra calcium.
